In Celebration of

Ernesto Raffaele Caridi

October 24, 1936 -  May 6, 2020

Passed suddenly of heart failure on May 6, 2020, in Richmond Hill in his 84th year. He is survived by his only son, Frank (Patricia) and siblings Dominic (Terry), Stella, Giselda (Frank) and Ornella (Dino) in the GTA and Nino (Lina) in Italy, many nieces and nephews and friends.

Ernie’s life began in Siderno in southern Italy. He emigrated to Canada in his mid-20’s, married Paola and started a family. He worked most of his adult life in his own interior painting business. Always involved in sports, Ernie loved hunting and soccer, but excelled at skeet and trap shooting. He was a Canadian Olympic official in Montreal in 1976 and Canadian Champion in skeet shooting in 1991.

Later years would find him still socializing with fellow members at Toronto International Trap and Skeet Club in Cookstown.

He loved the outdoors, spending time with friends and a good game of cards.

During these times of social distancing, there will only be a private cremation and interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Woodbridge, ON. A time to eat together, tell stories and raise a glass will be planned when it is safe to do so.

Donations in his memory can be made to the Canadian Olympic Foundation (https://olympic.ca/foundation/), Peter Munk Cardiac Centre UHN (https://tgwhf.ca/campaigns/heart/), or any charity supporting our amazing healthcare workers during this current Covid-19 crisis.
