In Celebration of

Ernest Copland

September 10, 1938 -  August 28, 2024

Ernest “Ernie” James Copland was born on September 10, 1938 and passed on August 28, 2024 in his 86th year, following a stroke. He was predeceased by his mother, Lilly, father Peter, sister Jean and brother Tommy. Ernie is survived by his wife Anita, sons James and Michael, daughter-in-law Heather, grandchildren Eric and Sean, and sister Pat.

Ernie was born in Montreal and grew up in Pointe Saint Charles and moved to Mississauga in 1984. He worked for SNC Lavalin and retired from Rogers.

He could fix just about anything and was a loving husband and father. He was very involved with his children being a Cub and Scout Leader as well as a hockey coach. He loved painting and woodworking. Ernie made beautiful artwork with his scroll saw and brightened many people’s lives when he would either sell them at craft shows or give them away.

We would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Credit Valley Hospital for their excellent and compassionate care they provided Ernie in his final weeks of life.

Ernie will be dearly missed.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be announced at a future date.

Donations can be made in Ernie’s name to The Credit Valley Hospital.

I have such happy childhood memories of my Uncle Ernie. We lived in the country beside his cottage, and I spent many happy summers with all of my cousins, in the yard, seeing what Uncle Ernie was fixing or building. He was soft spoken, and always had a twinkle in his eye. He called his boys, my cousins, "Jimmy" and "Mike", and was the only one allowed to do so! I did not see him often after they moved to Mississauga, but I remember him fondly. Rest well Uncle Ernie💙

I was pleased recently to receive a phone call from Uncle Ernie.. we hadn't seen each other in years, but it was like no time had passed. It was so good to chat with him.

Offering my sincerest sympathies to Anita and the rest of the family and thanks to James for keeping in touch. I hope to see everyone again soon.

Love
Robbie
