With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Elmira Barbosa (87, of Etobicoke, Ontario) on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. She departed this world peacefully, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love.
Born on April 11, 1936, in Arrifes, São Miguel, Portugal, to parents, José and Maria Da Conceição Paulino, Elmira lived a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to her family. She was the beloved wife of the late João Barbosa and the devoted mother of Maria (Raulino Moniz), Lucy (Joe Camara), and Filomena (Dario Ortali). Elmira's journey led her to immigrate to Canada in 1958, where she reunited with the love of her life and built the beautiful family she leaves behind today.
Elmira was the adored Vavó to Kasie (Andrew), Alisa (Cristiano), Justin (Valentina), Brittany (Kevin), and Vasili, and the cherished Avózinha to Aaliyah, Theo, Milena, Leila, and Elianna. She was a source of strength and inspiration to her daughters and their families. Throughout her life, Elmira's unwavering love and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her. She found joy in simple pleasures and cherished moments with her family, leaving a lasting imprint on everyone she encountered.
She will forever be missed by her siblings and her many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
Rest in peace, dear Elmira. You will be deeply missed, but your love and legacy will forever live on through your family.
