Elizabeth “Ella” “Liz” Devine (née Santos)

Born beside the beautiful turquoise shores of the Indian Ocean, in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania. Died peacefully, with family by her side on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Ian Anderson House hospice at the age of 86.

Beloved wife of the late Joe Devine. Loving mother of Valerie (John Czernuszka), Patrick (Sandra Elsie), Vanora (Rick Turriff), and Viola (Paul Kohut). Most beloved sister-in-law of Marie Devine. Loving “Nani” of Kyle (Cassy) and Emma, Matthew and Sarah, Rachel (Matt) and Adam. Dear sister of the late Damian Santos (Mabel) and Dora Viegas (Jocelyn). Dear sister-in-law of Philo Kudchadker (the late Jairam) and Margaret Pereira (George). Ella will be dearly missed by her family and her friends.

Ella has been part of my life for the better part of 47 years! She was always welcoming and funny and quite a classy lady! She cherished her family especially her grandchildren and they were very fortunate to have her in their lives! I am very sorry for your loss, she will be truly missed!!

My sincerest condolences to Valerie, Patrick, Vanora and Viola on the passing of your mom. Although I had not seen her in years I do remember A. Ella as being a gentle loving woman. I also extend my sympathies to A. Marie who also lost a dear friend and sister in law.

Elizabeth had quite the sense of humour.
We were at her husband's funeral and our friend Jack was just ahead of us in line to pay our respects. When Jack got to Elizabeth he gave his condolences and introduced himself as Valerie's friend. Without hesitation, Elizabeth responded, "Oh my, I feel sorry for you."
She wanted others to feel comfortable and happy, even during difficult times. She dearly loved her family.
