In Celebration of

Elizabeth (Betty) Reeder

January 29, 1929 -  December 29, 2023

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Elizabeth (Betty) Reeder who departed this life in her home on December 29, 2023. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 47 years, James Sr., their son, James Jr., grandson, Christopher, and her sister, Joan. Betty passed away one month before her 95th birthday, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

Betty is survived by her five devoted children: Joan Rollinson-Lorimer, Michael (Corrie), Maureen Gutt (Anthony), John (Amy), and Theresa Zita (Phil). Her presence will also be deeply missed by the 16 surviving grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

To her late sister, friends, church community, and those whose lives she touched, Betty was known as "Mom," "Grandma," and "Mrs. Reeder." Her dedication to teaching children to read as a volunteer in the nearby school endeared her to many.

Betty was a beacon of family pride and joy, often sharing stories about her extensive family with anyone she met. Her humour, gift of making others feel valued, and her enthusiastic storytelling were cherished by all who knew her.

Her laughter, melodious singing, and musical talents have become treasured legacies within the Reeder family. Betty's unwavering love, contagious spirit, and "gift of gab" have left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to know her.

In honouring her memory, please see the visitation and funeral information below to join her family and loved ones celebrating the remarkable life of Elizabeth "Betty" Reeder.

I was so very sorry to hear that Mrs. Reeder had passed away. She was and ever will be a significant figure in the memories of my childhood and teenage years, and the kindness that she and Mr. Reeder showed to me during those years - treating me very much like an extension of their family - was appreciated then and never forgotten. My own late parents thought very highly of the Reeders and counted Mrs. Reeder as a friend and church colleague throughout their mutual activities at Nativity. Her loss is mitigated only by knowing she is reunited with her dear husband, and her beloved son and grandson. Rest in peace, Mrs. Reeder, and my deepest condolences to Theresa, John, Michael, Maureen, and Joan, and families.
