It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth (Betty) Ann (Hay) LaPorte, 88, of Toronto, Ontario. Betty passed unexpectedly on August 6, 2025, in Toronto, where she resided. Betty was born on January 18, 1937, in Saint John, New Brunswick. She was predeceased by her father Frederic, mother Veronica (Blanchard) and brothers, William, Frederic, and George Hay. She was a caring partner to Harold MacIntyre for over 60 years. Betty worked for a book publishing company and National Trust in Toronto. She had a passion for crafting and was exceptional at creating memorable items. Needle points and socks were among the many items she completed with precision She enjoyed reading and waited in anticipation of her favorite authors to publish a new release. Betty had a love for anything with four legs, Cricket, Grizzle and Buttons were just a few of the animals that she cared about. Betty is survived by her partner Harold, one daughter Janis, many nieces, great nephews, great nieces, and great-great nephews. There will be no memorial services in Toronto as it was Betty’s wish to be buried in her hometown of Saint John beside her parents and brother William. If you would like to make a memorial donation you can do so to the Heart and Stroke Society or the Cancer Society. These are two organizations which she supported during her life.
