In Celebration of

Elia DiLegge

March 15, 1927 -  January 24, 2019

It is with great sadness that the family of Elia DiLegge announces her quiet and comfortable passing, at the end of a long life well-lived. Elia passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday January 24 2019 at the age of 91.

Beloved mother of Angela, Leonardo (Marisa) and Vera. Adored Nonna to Miranda (Hans), Alana, Michelle (Eric). Cherished Bisnonna to Calan, Ellia, Isabella, Oscar and Emily.

Born in Collarmele, Abruzzo, L’Aquila, Italy to Giovanni and Paola Prosia on March 15, 1927, Elia, the youngest of six children, emigrated to Canada in 1953, and settled in Mississauga, where her home became a centre of hospitality for countless friends and relatives, and where her warmth, kindness and generosity were appreciated by all.

Elia was predeceased by her husband Augusto (1993), their son Angelo (1952), her brothers Luigi, Alberto and Egidio; her sisters, Pasqua and Maria. Elia will be lovingly remembered by family and friends both in Canada and Italy.

She will be missed dearly but will always be remembered; and live forever in our hearts.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Trillium Health Partners Foundation.

Condolenses to Angie, Leo and Vera on the passing of your mum Elia. Along with my late mother Ida, they were the last of the original residents in the neighbourhood of Agnes/Cook St and over 60 years became close friends. Another of our beloved Italian immigrant parents has left us and it makes me sad that we lose that bit of our history. RIP Elia.
