It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of Elaine Cass (nee McDermott) announces her sudden passing on January 21, 2021.

Loving wife of Sean Cass, Cherished mother of Krystle McLean (Kevin) and Corey Cass (Samantha). Adored Nana of Justin, Alexander, Jacob and Joshua. Dear sister of Linda Wiberg and Brian McDermott. Predeceased by her parents Joseph and Sarah McDermott.

Elaine will be sincerely missed by many relatives and friends.

Elaine was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1961. Her family immigrated to Canada in 1975. Elaine met her husband Sean at the age of 17 and they were together for over 42 years. Elaine was a long time Postmedia (Sun Media) employee. She started working in Classified Advertising in 1979, at the age of 18 and ended her career in 2015 working in Advertising Production.

Due to COVID, a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.

If desired, donations in Elaine’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Why should I be out of mind

You are the best of me and am lost, you never allowed me to touch the laundry, you paid the bills, you handled the on line banking, you made sure i took my medication, you watched my diet cutting me off sugar, salt and host of other foods, and you did all this because you didn't want it any other way! Sounds corny, but I did see Elaine for the first time from across a crowded bar in July of 1979, she had this gorgeous smile and the most captivating big blue eyes.. I knew then I was in trouble.
Even though we both were with other people we did dance and I got your number along with a kiss.
Little did I know you were only 17 which I only found out on your 18th birthday.
Honestly it did take a few days for Elaine to warm up to the idea of going out with me, but from that point on we were inseparable.
I asked Elaine to be the mother of my children and in March of1982 we married.
Elaine was my life for 42yrs and will forever be my guiding light and our grandson's Guardian Angel
