Edward Janes

October 13, 1931 - July 12, 2024

Passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024, in his 93rd year, after bravely enduring several years of health issues. Beloved husband of Hedy. Loving father of Robert, Ingrid Bett (Steve), and Edward (Christine). Proud Opa of Braeden, Hailey and Austen.

Edward chose to leave war-torn Europe in 1955 at the age of 23 to seek a better life in Canada. He soon met his life-long love Hedy, at a dance at Palace Pier in Toronto. They both worked extremely hard to achieve their dreams of owning a house, a cottage on Georgian Bay, which Edward built with his own hands, and sending their three children to university.

Friends and family may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., on Sunday July 21, from 4-6 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 480 Rathburn Rd., Etobicoke, on Monday, July 22, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery.
