In Celebration of

Dudley John Briggs

It is with sadness and relief that we announce the passing of Dudley John Briggs, born 17 October 1945 in Barnet, Middlesex England to Norman and Vera Briggs. Brother to pre-deceased sisters Anne and Elizabeth and his living sister Janet. Father with Patricia Briggs to Gregory, Damian and Liam Briggs. Grandfather to Roxanne, Deakonn, Jacob, Clara, Camryn, Hunter and Harris and long-time partner of Leanne Miller.

After a nearly 2-year battle with cancer, and with his family and Leanne by his side on Thursday 26 September, Dudley passed peacefully at home.

Dudley was a 55-year veteran of the Canadian construction industry, starting his career as a project manager and travelling between Manitoba and Ontario to lead projects including heavy civil infrastructure, civic facilities and medical centre projects. Dudley worked for several national and regional general contracting companies throughout his industry tenure, including Bird Construction, EGM Cape and Toddglen Development, eventually rising to executive vice president roles before moving on to start a construction and legal expert witness consulting practice. He will be missed by his industry peers.

The family welcomes those who want to remember Dudley to hit a bucket of balls and later raise a glass to his memory on Thursday, October 3, 2024 . With his love for golf in mind, there will be a “21-Drive Salute” and range session held at the Bathgate Golf Centre, 600 Eglinton Ave, Mississauga L4Z 1Y8 starting at 12:30. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life at the Crooked Cue in Port Credit, 75 Lakeshore Road East Mississauga, Ontario L5G 1C9, between 3 and 7 p.m.

Should you wish to make a donation in Dudley’s honour, the family suggests Mississauga Hospital’s new expansion construction project, of which he took a keen interest. The donation link is available on the top of this webpage.
