It is with deep love and profound sadness that the family of Dr. Winston Melvyn Jong announces his passing on August 13, 2025, at the age of 84.
Born on February 14, 1941, Winston studied medicine at the University of Toronto School of Medicine, graduating in 1968. He went on to an illustrious career in Obstetrics and Gynecology, delivering more than 10,000 babies over the course of his practice. Among his many professional milestones, Winston had the honour of delivering the very first baby at Credit Valley Hospital, where he later served as Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the President of the Credit Valley Medical Staff Association.
After retiring from obstetrics in 2006, Winston dedicated himself to helping families realize their dreams of parenthood through his fertility practice, continuing this meaningful work until his full retirement in 2019. His tireless compassion, skill, and unwavering commitment left a lasting legacy in the lives of countless families.
Outside of medicine, Winston was a passionate golfer and skier, and a proud member of St. George’s Golf and Country Club. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family, whose love and companionship were the greatest joys of his life.
Winston is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife Susan, his children Kimberly, David (Andrea), and Matthew (Keely), and his treasured grandchildren Johnny, William, James, Alexis, Mackenzie, and Jackson. He is also survived by his brother Raynard (Maggie) and his sister Roberta (Nelson). He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Albert and Rose, and his loyal golden retriever, Marshal.
He will forever be remembered for his warmth, wit, gentlemanly grace, sense of humor, and his legendary martini. Winston leaves behind not only a legacy of medical excellence, but also a life defined by love, laughter, and family.
