In Celebration of

Dr. Lillian Eritch-Pospisil

August 28, 1936 -  April 2, 2022

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Dr. Lillian Eritch-Pospisil on Saturday, April 2, 2022 in Toronto, ON, surrounded by family.

Lillian was born on August 28, 1936, in Zagreb, Yugoslavia to Theresa and Charles Eritch. She lived in Belgrade before escaping to Italy and then returned to Yugoslavia after the War. To escape Communism, the family moved to Israel and finally immigrated to Canada in 1952. Lillian attended Harbord Collegiate and then Jarvis Collegiate in Toronto and met her future husband, Frank, during her high school years. She graduated with “Honours” from the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Dentistry in 1961, one of 3 women in her year. She continued a long and successful dental career and influenced future generations of dentists as a demonstrator at the Faculty.

Lillian made friends easily throughout her life and cherished the many patients from her dental practices who became good friends. She had a terrific sense of humour, enjoyed laughing and having fun and was very compassionate and giving, always willing to help a friend or family member in need whenever she could. She had many interests in the areas of music, the arts and literature. Her gift for languages was evident as she mastered the English language, her fourth language, and with a twinkle in her eye, could
debate a wide variety of topics with anybody willing.

Lillian was a proud and devoted daughter, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, godmother, and friend. She is survived by her husband, Frank J. Pospisil, her son Frank C. Pospisil and his wife Krista, her daughter Lara Schneider and her husband Paul and her 4 grandchildren Rachel, Hannah, Charles and Adam. She will be missed tremendously. Our lives are forever enriched for having known her.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life in honour of Lillian on Monday, September 26th from 5:00pm-8:00pm at Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel (2357 Bloor Street West, Toronto). If you would like to say a few words at the Celebration of Life, kindly let us know by email (celebratelillian2022@gmail.com). In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society of Toronto.
