Douglas Ross Bryan
(July 1934 – Sept 2020)
4th Canadian Guards 1952 – 1955
*United Nations Service Medal

Douglas Ross Bryan, (Doug) age 86 departed his family and friends on Sept 12, 2020 at Sunnybrook Veterans Centre in Toronto ON.

Doug was born in Beeton, ON, July 1934 to Dorothy Pressley and Ivan Bryan. After meeting the love of his life and lifelong friend, Doug and Dorothy (nee Birkett) were married in Port Credit in Aug 1958 and together for 62 wonderful years.

Doug’s military training followed him all his life, serving as a Guardsman with the 4th Canadian Guards from Nov 1952 and honorably released Nov 1955. Doug was awarded a United Nations Service Medal for his service as a Peacekeeper in Korea. He was an active member of the KVA for more than 30 years and served as Sergeant at Arms where he held his post with pride.

Doug was a loving and caring father and survived by 2 beautiful girls, Sandra and Sharon and 3 wonderful grandchildren Joshua, Trevor and Siobhan. You would be remised to talk about the life Doug led and not include Doug’s beloved sidekick, his Bouvier Nikki.

Doug had a successful career as a transport driver with a 47-year clean driving record, and a member of the Teamsters. He loved to share stories from the past around the dinner table and was a lifelong Leaf’s fan. A proud veteran, loving Husband, Father and Grandfather.

Doug will be truly missed by all of us.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Poppy Foundation to help veterans in need.
