In Celebration of

Doris Allen

April 25, 1923 - December 4, 2021

Doris Helen Allen (nee Tizzard) passed away peacefully on December 4, 2021 at Humber Heights Retirement Home at the age of 98 surrounded by family and friends.

She is predeceased by her husband, the Honourable H. Ward Allen, Q.C., who presided on the Ontario Superior Court of Justice through 1995.

Doris was a life partner and steadfast support for Ward, in his work, church and charitable activities, and engagements with numerous professional associations.

In addition to country drives in her green sports car, spending time with sister Audrey Tizzard, and escaping to the family farm near Orangeville, Doris enjoyed many hands-on hobbies, ranging from dressmaking and gardening to interior design and furniture refinishing.

Later in life, Doris’ sightseeing travels took her, Ward and friends to Europe and other parts of the world. Homecoming events hosted by Queen’s University were a highlight of the social calendar.

Doris also enjoyed theatre outings and connecting with family, including her youngest granddaughter, Mary-Elizabeth Allen and Tizzard family relatives.

Doris always expressed a deep and enduring love for Blanca, Nelba, and Sue, and other members of her personal care team.

Family and friends join Doris in sharing our heartfelt appreciation. We also thank everyone at the Village of Humber Heights, Thornbrook Homecare, and Islington United Church for helping make Doris’ later years rich with many blessings.

A service of remembrance will be held at Turner and Porter Yorke Chapel at 2357 Bloor Street West on Thursday December 16 at 11:30 am. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 10:30-11:30 am. Interment to follow at Park Lawn Cemetery.
