Died September 14, 2020, at home with her family. Born in Aurora, Illinois US on July 31, 1955, Dora grew up in Mishawaka, Indiana US, Paris FR and Cambridge (Galt) ON, and spent her adult life in Mississauga ON. She attended Galt Collegiate Institute and received her Bachelor of Art’s degree from the University of Toronto in 1978. On May 14, 1977, she married Paul Williams with whom she had three daughters: Elaine (David), Stephanie (Charles), and Karen (Jean-Philippe). She is also survived by her sister, Sara Hysinger Evinger (Joseph) of Oakland, California, mother-in-law Gladys Williams, stepmother Marilyn Savage, and grandson James. She will be remembered for her generosity, her sense of humour, and her general optimism and positivity.
Dora was a member of Erindale United Church for over 30 years, and sang in the senior choir for almost all of those years. She also worked for ten years at South Common Library as a page, and dedicated time to helping support her mother-in-law Gladys. Dora loved to travel, knit, do crossword puzzles, and especially adored looking after her grandson James.
After university, Dora worked as a technical translator (French-English) for 7 years. She also worked as a sales associate for Weekenders (clothes you love to live in), and worked many years as a stay-at-home Mom (matriarch; household manager; parent-volunteer in schools; horse-show, gymnastics, orchestra and choir mom extraordinaire, devoted driver/carpooler, etc.). Dora was an excellent cook and loved to organize big family dinners for birthdays and holidays.
Our mom, grandma, wife, sister, daughter-in-law, colleague, and friend's generous life, summarized in so few lines, will continue to be elaborated, never forgotten. She will be extravagantly missed!
