In Celebration of

Donna Mary Jacqueline Radford

February 23, 1929 -  April 8, 2020

RADFORD, Donna Mary Jacqueline (Wilson) – 91, died peacefully Wednesday evening, April 8th , 2020, in the Chartwell Westbury Long Term Care Residence, Etobicoke, Ontario. Born in her beloved west-end of Toronto, February 23rd, 1929, Donna was the daughter of the late John Austin Wilson and Edythe Montgomery Wilson. She is survived by her sons Mikal (Muriel), and John (Riitta). She was predeceased by her youngest son Timothy; sister Lois Marriott; brother John Wilson; and niece Mary-Francis Fox.

For most of her working career Donna was a social worker and administrator for Metro Homes for the Aged in Toronto. During retirement she enjoyed many winters as a “Snowbird” at her Port Charlotte, Florida condo, soaking up the sun, socializing, playing golf and participating in her award-winning bocce league. Donna loved baseball, especially the Toronto Blue Jays, and attended as many Spring Training games as she could. Although Donna was not able to experience the joy of grandchildren, throughout her later years many cats were her much-loved companions.

Regretfully, in the last fifteen years -- particularly after the death of her son, Tim -- Donna suffered from dementia and gradually went into decline. We thank the wonderful nurses and staff of The Westbury for Donna’s excellent care over the last few years.

Bon Voyage, Mom, we'll miss your bright smile and warm heart!

Cremation has taken place. Due to the present Covid-19 situation a ‘Celebration of Life’ Memorial service cannot be held at this time. When circumstances are more suitable, interment of the cremated remains of both Donna and her son Timothy will be in the Wilson-Montgomery family plot in Park Lawn Cemetery, Etobicoke.

Mrs. Radford was like another mother to me - she always gave great advice and did a lot to help those in need. I loved her sense of humor and her perseverance through hard times. She taught me a lot and I will never forget her. The house on Kingsgrove was a Sanctuary.

Donna was my mother-in-law for almost three decades. She was a very practical person with a warm and generous heart. I was lucky to have enjoyed so many good times with her, both in Toronto and in Florida, and will miss her. I know her final years were very difficult. Rest in peace, Donna!
