In Celebration of

Donna Claire Duffy

March 1, 1943 -  March 6, 2024

Donna Claire Duffy (nee Trenholm) passed away peacefully on March 6, 2024 with her family at her side. She is survived by her husband, Frank Duffy; her sister, Linda Cormier (Ernest); her daughter, Kelly McDonald; her son, Bryan Duffy (Ofelia); and her granddaughter, Ava McDonald.

Donna was born on March 1, 1943 in Saint John, New Brunswick, the eldest daughter of William and Frederica Trenholm. She graduated from Simonds Regional High School in 1961 and from the Saint John Institute of Technology (later renamed New Brunswick Community College, Saint John Campus) in 1964. It was while attending Tech that she met Frank, the man she would marry four years after graduation, a marriage that lasted almost 56 years. Frank’s banking career moved them to Montreal where their two children were born in 1973 and 1975. In 1975 another transfer moved the family to the Greater Toronto Area (Mississauga), where they bought their family home and resided until Donna’s passing.

Everyone loved Donna and she loved everyone, especially her two children and granddaughter, Ava. She looked forward to spending time every summer at the family cottage on the Northumberland Strait in Cap Pele, NB, hosting lobster feeds with her family and a great number of friends she met in high school and at Tech. Her annual trips to NB always included a visit to the Saint John Market to buy dulse. In their retirement years Donna and Frank enjoyed spending time in the winter in Barbados where they met friends with whom she remained in touch.

We would be remiss if we did not mention the loving and compassionate care Donna received from the doctors, nurses and PSW’s during her five day stay in the Emergency Department and the Palliative Care Unit of the Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga.

Donna has been cremated and her ashes will be interred at a later date. There will be a Memorial Service at 3:00 PM local time on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Turner & Porter Funeral Home, Peel Chapel, 2180 Hurontario Street, Mississauga, ON. Family and friends are welcome. For those who cannot visit in person, the program will be live streamed, link will be available on the Funeral Home website at www.turnerporter.ca.
