In Celebration of

Donald James MacKay

November 27, 1929 - June 15, 2022

Donald James MacKay passed away after a brief illness at the Trillium Hospital in Mississauga, Ontario on June 15, 2022. Donald, also known as Don, Dad and Papa was 92. He is survived by his children, Ruth Ann and Ross and his grandchildren, Diane, Melany and Kimberly. Predeceased by his parents, Ann and Hugh, his wife Diane and his sister and brother, Katherine and Gordon.
Don grew up in Winnipeg Manitoba and attended Kelvin High School. An avid athlete, Don played basketball and hockey while studying Law at the University of Manitoba. Called to the bar in 1956, Don moved to Toronto and practiced law as a partner with Stapells and Sewell for many years. He retired to Meaford, Ontario in 1997 where he spent his time playing golf, curling and entertaining his children and grandchildren.
Passionate about Canada, politics, history, reading and sports - and most of all his family and friends. We’ll miss Don’s keen insights and gentle humour.
Cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Life will be held at The Brogue Irish Pub, 136 Lakeshore Rd. E., Mississauga from 1 pm to 4 pm Sunday, June 26, 2022.
Memorial Donations, in lieu of flowers may be made to the Trillium Health Partners: trilliumgiving.ca/inmemory.
