It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of a wonderful and beloved man, D. Fraser Mackenzie at the age of 83, with his loving and devoted wife of almost 65yrs by his side; in Mississauga, Ontario on March 29, 2025.
Fraser started his journey in life on January 13, 1942, in Sydney, Nova Scotia; the eldest of the family. By the age of 13 he met the love of his life while playing baseball; Helen (a fond story he told to many) and by age 18 they were married and a week later left for Toronto to start a wonderful life adventure together.
As a young hard-working man with deep seeded morals, he started working in sheet metal and wire company in Toronto with the starting wage of $1/ hr and worked his way through the years to become a very successful and proud owner of the company, MFM Wire Display Inc; retiring at age 67.
Fraser was a dedicated, caring family man; the proud father of three boys and he adored his wife; in later years a loving grandfather and great-grandfather. Family always came first. But was always there to extend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Fraser (Fondly named, Coach) was also a pillar in the neighborhood and community for 40 years as a coach to the baseball team and special needs bowling team. He was a strict but respected mentor who was loved by so many; he loved coaching and all the kids he met through the years.
Fraser and Helen enjoyed travelling, with family and friends; story filled adventures of fun and laughs. And for over 50 years Fraser and his family faithfully made a yearly trip back home, Cape Breton.
In his years of retirement rather than traveling the world, Papa began the selfless journey of raising another child along with his loving wife. Grandson turned son, Jake became the fourth son to Fraser and became known to many as Papa. He stood in place as a shining example of what it means to be a father. A loving, respectful, and selfless man whose word was as good as gold. Always present in every chapter of life and his endless words of encouragement made any obstacle always feel overcomable. Between yearly trips to Florida, weekly dinners out and every day inbetween Papa could always be found in his SEFA sweatpants making the most of every day. From holding Jake in his arms as a newborn, teaching him how to drive, cheering him on as he received his diploma and finally being able to hold his new grandson (Elijah) in his arms; Papa was able to complete the family circle twice over. A stoic man that made sure his family never went without and always made sure they knew he loved them deeply. His love will truly be missed.
Fraser was so grateful for all of the family and dear friends that travelled on his train of life!
