In Celebration of

Donald Alexander Leitch

September 19, 1934 -  November 8, 2024

Donald Alexander Leitch passed away peacefully on November 8th, 2024 in his 91st year.

Donald is survived by his sister Eleanor MacLean (late husband Gary). Beloved uncle to Kate MacLean (John Sheldon), Ian MacLean (Indi), and Diana Buntain. Proud great uncle to Spencer, Charlie, Graham, Cameron and Libby.

Donald was pre-deceased by his parents Alexander and Margaret Leitch (Scace) and his beloved companion Joan.

Donald was born in Hamilton on September 19, 1934. Donald's lifelong love of curling started in his youth and he curled with friends and family for many decades, into his eighties. He was a long-time member of the High Park Curling Club and the Scarborough Curling Club.

He attended Runnymede Public School, Humberside Collegiate and Etobicoke Collegiate. He was a proud alumnus and supporter of the University of Toronto where he graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce and Finance in 1958.

Donald spent most of his career as a Project Manager with the TTC, as well as studying economics and one of his biggest interests, public transportation. He loved classical music, especially Mozart, and had season tickets for the Toronto Symphony Orchestra for many years. He also loved to travel and took many trips with his companion Joan.

A special thank you to all the friends, staff and caregivers at Delmanor Prince Edward where Donald resided for the last few years, and also the team at the Dorothy Ley Hospice who cared for him in his final weeks.

Visitation will be at the Turner & Porter Butler Chapel, 4944 Dundas Street West, Toronto, on Friday, November 15, 2024, from 12:00 to 1:00, with a Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. A small reception will follow immediately after the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Dorothy Ley Hospice would be welcomed.

I remember Donald’s visits to the cottage in Southampton fondly. He would take us for tiger ice cream cones at the dock in Port Elgin. Later on he was always eager to argue economic policies.

So sorry to hear this news and sorry that I cannot make it down to the funeral but I have some commitments on Fri.
Sending you all a big hug and making a donation to the hospice as suggested.
I know Sandy's Mom , Marian always looked forward to having Donald at the cottage when he was able. Always interesting conversations then.
Sincerest condolences

Don was a special part of our lives for many years, especially when Joan was with us. We celebrated meals together over many birthdays and holidays. Going to brunch every year for Christmas at the Scarborough Golf And Country Club was something Ron, Sterling, Tyler and I really looked forward to every year; Don's annual Christmas gift to us. Our thoughts are with Don's family during this difficult time. Love, The Brough Family xo
