In Celebration of

Domenico Di Serio

July 8, 1934 -  September 22, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Domenico Di Serio, with his wife
Maria by his side, on September 22, 2024, at the age of 90.

Domenico was deeply devoted to his loving wife of 61 years. He also leaves behind his
two sons, Antonio (Lisa) and Danny (Leanne). His grandchildren, Alyssa and Gabriel,
were his pride and joy. Domenico was the beloved son of Giovina and Giuseppe. He will
be lovingly remembered by his sister Dora (Renato), and his brothers, Remo (Vanna)
and Vincenzo (Angelina). He is now reunited with his deceased siblings, Santino (Ida
d.), Eligio (Domenica d.), Gabriele (Maria d.), Sestino (Maria d.), and Giannina
(Pasquale d.). Domenico also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends.
Domenico was born in Alanno, Pescara, Italy, and immigrated to Canada in 1954, in
search of a better life. He dedicated 65 years of his life to Rex Lumber. Domenico was
always the first to arrive and the last to leave. His steady hand and unparalleled work
ethic forged a lasting legacy, which continues today. He will be missed by devoted
employees, past and present, and loyal customers.

Memories with Domenico will always be cherished. A man with a wonderful sense of
humour, a twinkle in his eye, and a positive loving nature that made everyone feel at
ease. His family was his true joy, especially spending quality time with his beloved
grandchildren.

He will stay in our hearts forever. May he rest in peace.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Trillium Health Partners
Foundation.

My deepest condolences to the Di Serio family on the loss of your father. I have many fond memories of Mr. Di Serio such as visiting him at REX lumber or spending many backyard moments in which we ate, drank, and laughed together. I remember drinking some of his home-made wine which I often referred to as “potent”. Mr. Di Serio was a fun loving, caring, hardworking, and spirited person with strong family values who adored life and worked extremely hard to achieve success. He will be greatly missed!
