In Celebration of

Dilys Manion

January 16, 1926 -  February 1, 2019

Passed away peacefully at West Park Long Term Care secure in the love of her family at the age of 93. She was the beloved widow of Frank, mother of Paul (Deb), and Maggie (Paul Allan), grandmother of Sarah, Elizabeth, Kate and Michael, and sister of Ruth and Maureen and the late Gwyn. Because she was born and lived in London, England, her family life was significantly disrupted by the war. She and her sister Gwyn were evacuated and lived with several different families during the war. Dilys graduated from University College, London with a degree in chemistry, then worked at Lyons of London as a senior chemist and came to Canada in 1953 where she worked at Canada Packers as a research chemist. She became a teacher in 1959. After raising her family, Dilys returned to teaching and worked into her 70s. She enjoyed a long retirement with Frank gardening, attending the theatre and the opera. She will be remembered for her kindness, intelligence and incredible energy. A funeral service will be held at Royal York Rd. United Church (851 Royal York Rd.) on Sunday, Feb. 10 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be much appreciated. Online condolences may be made through www.turnerporter.ca

A fine person, your mother, Maggie... in a nicely summarized account of her life. You will be sad, and thankful for her , in her long life. My condolences.
