In Celebration of

Diane Donnelly Docherty (née Martin)

August 16, 1957 - November 10, 2025

Diane Donnelly Docherty (née Martin), aged 68, of Mississauga, Ontario passed away at St. Joseph's Health Centre on November 10th, 2025 of cancer. Family meant everything to Diane - she was a devoted mother and the matriarch of her extended family.

Born in Dumbarton, Scotland, Diane enjoyed a childhood surrounded by her siblings, cousins and friends making mischief from Clyde Bank to Castlehill to Bellsmyre Avenue. Her memories made in Scotland carried her fondness for her home country to her new home in Canada at the age of 16. She was forever a proud Scottish lass.

Diane’s early years in Canada were a true coming-of-age, making friends she would carry with her for life. Her love of classic rock inspired her younger siblings and later her children to experience live music at venues small and large. She was the consummate host, bringing family and friends into her home to enjoy a meal and simply be together.

In her career, Diane often downplayed the impact of her role, overlooking the sense of trust and care she instilled with those she supported. For well over 30 years, she worked closely with teachers across the Toronto Catholic District School Board as they navigated life-changing and sometimes terminal illness.

Her legacy will be with the people she cared for most, inspiring a sense of duty to responsibility without expecting recognition or praise. Diane shied away from the spotlight and found fulfillment in the small moments she shared with others in life.

Arrangements for a celebration of life will be shared in the coming days. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in her honour.
