In Celebration of

Denise Claire Connors

February 5, 1947 -  July 1, 2024

It is with sadness that we want to let friends know that Denise Connors lost her stoic battle with cancer on Canada Day.

Denise was predeceased by her parents Alexina and Charles Connors and by her aunts and uncles who cared for her, Florence and Fred O’shea and Alma and Henry Fisher and by her dear sister Valma Guest.

Left to mourn her loss are her husband and partner Dan Bell, her sisters Ellen Thomson and Marie Anne Jameson (Paul). Thomson nephews Richard (Keiko), Kevin (Stephanie), Geoff (Tricia, Stuart, Colleen, Connor) and Ryan Guest (Dana), Jack Jameson and niece, Emily Rose Jameson.

Denise, a long-time Etobicoke resident and true Torontonian spent many years teaching special education at St. Luke and some say could teach any child to read. She was a strong, self-reliant person who loved traveling. She loved her cats, was a skilled lawn bowler and had a dynamic serve in badminton and pickle ball. She was an aqua fit and crafting enthusiast. And spent countless hours researching family genealogy.

We wish to thank all of her care team, especially the doctors, nurses and support staff at Princess Margaret and Toronto General Hospitals.

In lieu of flowers, please consider the Cancer Society of Canada or liferaftgroup.ca or your favourite charity.

A gathering for family and friends will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2024 from 5-7:30pm at Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor Street West, followed by private family arrangements at a later date.

Rest in Peace Dearest one.

I am a friend of her sister Ellen and have been so touched their family love, connectedness and support. Denise had incredible courage and love of life. She loved her family history and often was glue that guarded the family history and bonded the family ties. I know she has left a historical legacy for her loved ones. Rest in Peace now.

I got to know Denise when as a young child my family would visit with my mom's (Lena Odesse) Aunts Florence and Alma. We lost touch for awhile but reconnected recently through email sharing genealogy tidbits. I wish we could have gotten to know each other better. Rest in peace Denise. You are in my prayers.

I was saddened to hear of Denise's passing. We have been close friends for over fifty years and I will miss her terribly.

My thoughts and prayers are with Dan and the family at this very difficult time.

May her soul rest in peace and perpetual light shine upon her.

Sorry for your loss Dan and to the entire family. Denise will be missed, and I was glad to get to see her a little more often once COVID ended. I have so many great memories of Denise that go a mile long.

See you tomorrow.
Geoff
