In Celebration of

Debra Lynne Chatoff

December 22, 1958 -  May 27, 2021

nee Markoff,

Debra was born in Toronto on December 22, 1958. Beloved wife of Peter for 36 years, dear mother of Steven and sister to Chris (Dawn) and Bob (Dana), sister-in-law to Jennifer (Frank), aunt to Adam, Andrea (Donny), Chris (Maggie), Lisa (Lucas), Laura (Josh), Heather (Byron), and Stephanie (Mike). She was the daughter of the late Rose and Pando Markoff. Debra was a graduate of Martingrove Collegiate and of the Humber College Early Childhood Education Program and had worked for a number of years in the Metropolitan Toronto Day Care Centres. Like many children of Macedonian heritage she grew up in the restaurant business. In more recent years, her support and patience for Steven and Peter’s professional and other pursuits was outstanding. Arrangements entrusted to Turner & Porter "Peel" Chapel, Mississauga and due to the current COVID 19 restrictions a small private family service will be held. A Celebration of Life will occur at a future date. The family thanks the Intensive Care Unit staff at Credit Valley Hospital for their hard efforts on Debra’s behalf and for the ongoing support of the Watline Dialysis Satellite Clinic. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Kidney Foundation of Canada in Debra’s name may be made.

Debbie and I were first cousins, but in reality, we were sisters. We talked almost every day. If COVID hadn’t quarantined us, we would have seen each other weekly. She was an important part of my life and will be eternally missed by me. Rest In Peace.

My sincerest condolences Peter, to you, Stephen and the family on the loss of your wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a wonderful, blessed person and a fighter. May you draw strength and comfort from her and all that she accomplished and gave in this life. May she rest in peace, rise in glory and live forever in your hearts and in the everlasting love of God.

Peter:
Sincerest condolences to you and your family in this very difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are extended and may they help you in overcoming the sorry you are feeling. They say ‘time heals all’; I am not sure this is accurate. I would say these feelings of sadness somewhat subside over time but most importantly your fond memories will remain forever.

Dear Peter and Steven

Debbie was a precious treasure to Dennis Rebecca and me. Her laughter her caring ways , a hand to hold when times were hard a laugh shared in good times. She is my best friend, every step of the way even to the end we talked, we laughed so many stories. I loved her like family Rebecca too . She and I planned Rebecca baby shower together, we shared birthdays I miss her so much. I pray that you Peter and Steven will be held in God's hand that you feel his peace and strength surround you both. God is here with you now and always he holds you and Steven and Debbie close to his heart. In his arms God will carry you all. love Maureen and Dennis Kowal and Rebecca Lawrie
