President & CEO of The Corporation of Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall, Past President of EMI Music Canada, Drummer in Harvest with Tom Cochrane, Walt Grealis Juno Award Recipient, affectionately known as “Captain Canada.”

Passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at the age of 65. Beloved husband of Cristina Martinez Cameron. Loving brother of Leslie and her husband Jim MacKenzie. Loving uncle of Cameron, Kailin, and great uncle of Aidan, Josh and Malcolm. Dear son-in-law of Josefina (Mamita); and brother-in-law of Josefina (Pine), and Alejandra. Deane will be sadly missed by Axel and Alexis, Chris and Eric, extended family in Mexico and friends.

Friends may call at Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor Street W., at Windermere Ave. (east of the Jane subway) on Wednesday and Thursday from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Roy Thomson Hall, 60 Simcoe St., Toronto on Friday, May 24, 2019 at 2 p.m.

Deane was truly an inspirational leader. He was not only my president but treated me like a friend. Cristina and Deane welcomed me into their home to assist with their technology needs and never forgot the treats that I enjoyed. They would return from Mexico bringing me that special treat... it was amazing that the would remember me and made the effort to bring it back for me. A little thing... though he was the president of the company, but a humble and special man. Cristina... Janice and I send our love and prayers for you.

Well damn Deanne.

I kept showing up at marketing meetings or events with different configurations of facial hair, you commented that you were fascinated I could keep changing it, having not shaved since you were 15 and did not know if you could actually do it.

I looked at you blankly and said it likely grow back. You smiled and raised one eyebrow, I did not know if you took it seriously, if you thought it was funny or if you thought it was an arsehole comment. Next time I saw you, you had shaved, almost, and I knew you had taken my advice.

Will miss our almost bi-monthly meetups in the PATH near RTH, I had a whole list of questions all ready for that next time.

Passing is not so much about where we are headed, but what we leave behind, and you sir left a whole lot of goodness.
