It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the death of David Matthew Wilson on September 4th, 2020. Dave was 76 years old and had recently been diagnosed with cancer. He accepted his illness stoically, simply wanting to spend his remaining time surrounded by family and friends. He kept his sense of humour until the very end when he passed away peacefully at home in the loving care of his wife of 39 years, Darlene and daughters Jessica, Vanessa, Johanna and Heather.
David was glider pilot and loved the sport both for the thrill and the peace it brought him. He adored “soccer” and loved to coach his beloved Tottenham Hotspurs from the couch, never missing a game. However, his biggest joy was his family. Dave loved to tell the story of how it was love at first sight with Darlene, telling her on their first date that he was going to marry her. They built a wonderful life together with their three daughters, later adding a fourth as well as several sons in law and grandsons. He is survived by his two sisters, Lyn McCreadie (South Africa) and Kathryn Wilson (England). He will be deeply missed by all that love him. The family wants to thank the incredible team at Dorothy Ley Hospice for the way they cared for dad and the compassion and support that they extended to the family. They are truly angels.
Due to Covid, funeral and reception will be a private family affair but donations in dad’s honour can be made to the Dorothy Ley Hospice or to the Canadian Cancer Society. Online condolences may be made through www.turnerporter.ca
