In Celebration of

David Hobbs

August 20, 1949 -  December 2, 2019

At the age of 70, surrounded by his loving family, Dave passed away peacefully at the Trillium Hospital in Mississauga due to a sudden massive stroke.

Dave was born on August 20, 1949, in Toronto to the late Kenneth and Patricia Hobbs. He was raised in Oakville and attended Purdue High School. While in High School, Dave was very involved in the track and field team where he was an OFSAA champion for Javelin. Dave worked for McCormick Canada for 33 years and Provincial Paper & Packaging for 11 years. He loved to spend time outdoors camping and fishing. Dave was a true Maple Leaf fan who truly believed the Leafs will once again win the Stanley Cup. He was a very devoted father who did everything for his children.

After his retirement, Dave volunteered for Canadian Blood Services and was very active in his church. He spent much time traveling and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Dave also became an avid wine collector. Dave believed in helping others. As part of his generosity, he decided to become an organ donor and was capable of donating some of his organs upon his death.

He is survived by his loving wife Jan, daughter Janet (Pino), son Scott (Lisa), and step-son Corey (Vanessa) and the late Jay. Dave is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Sebastian, Stefan, Skyla, Preston, Kennedi, Katelynde (Ryan), Cameron, Jenna, and great-granddaughter Georgia. Dave was a wonderful brother to Carol, Linda (Bob), Kathy (Trevor), and the late Michael. Dave will be lovingly remembered by friends and extended family.

Visitation will be held at the Turner & Porter Neweduk-Erin Mills Chapel, 1981 Dundas Street W, Mississauga, on Friday, December 6th from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Glenbrook Presbyterian Church, 3535 South Common Court, Mississauga on Saturday, December 7th at 11 a.m. Reception to follow in the church hall.

For those who wish, donations may be made to the Hospital For Sick Children or the Deaf Culture Centre in Toronto.

At first, I loved Dave because he loved my best friend. Then as the years passed, I loved him because he was such a good person. I will never be able to see a Bald Eagle, nor a Stellar's Jay without thinking about Dave. I will miss his dry humour, and I will grieve his passing, but I will always be grateful for having known him. You have earned the right to soar with the eagles, Dave.....safe journey.

Our sincerest sympathies to Jan and the entire family. As the eldest cousin of the Hobbs clan, Dave was looked up to and admired for his calm and cool demeanour, his quiet wisdom and the Patriarch of the cousin clan.
Dave will be missed and remembered forever.

It is with shock, disbelief and great sadness that I say fair well to my brother David. To say the least, fate delt Dave an unfair hand ! The saying must be true, "Only the good die young"
I say thankyou to David for all he was and all he did for so many, his heart was kind. He was always there to lend a hand if he could and that was often. Never wanting or expecting anything in return.
Thankyou Dave for a great 70 years, I'm glad you and Jan found each other and I'm proud to say that you were my brother.
I will miss you greatly !

I am so sad to hear the news.

Thank you for making Aunt Jan laugh like no one else could.

I will miss your dry humour, and can I just say? I ALWAYS got a KICK out of how you would stand up to and bicker with Aunt Jan <3 You loved her SO much, but would ALWAYS hold stern to your beliefs... you were a sweet, loving, gentle, kind man with a surprising strength and tenacity.

You were loved and you will be missed. When the leafs win the cup, I will cheer louder just for you.... you took me to my very first Leafs game after all!

Sweet dreams. Life just isn't fair sometimes!

Love Jewel Black

PS. Bet the vino in heaven tastes GREAT, save a glass for when I get there. 🖤
