Mrs. West and family,
Thank you for allowing “Mr. West” to spend the numerous evenings he devoted to guiding us through practices and league games and similarly, the weekends, where we won many tourneys and exhibition games.
Thank you again also for your kindness in sharing him when we called him at home for whatever it was that was deemed “so important to us at the time and just could not wait.”
The lessons learned have positively impacted all of us who were fortunate to be part of his legendary program. His legacy is beyond making better basketball players and/or geography students out of us but more importantly, better young adults.
I am sure I speak for many when I say that I appreciate all that he has done for us.
Thank you Mr. West, you will be missed.
To the family, please accept my sincere condolences.

MCI 91’
Dave and I were members of the Varsity Blues football team and teaching colleagues, he as Geography Head at Martingrove, me at Richview. We also lived in the same neighbourhood and occasionally "ran" into one another while jogging.
Dave was one of the "coolest" guys I ever met. He was a great basketball player and coach and profoundly impacted the lives of many of his players and students. I grieve his loss while at the same time feeling grateful that our paths crossed in life. Sincere condolences to all who loved him and miss him
An icon in my life
My condolences and prayers to the family.
I'm very thankful to Mr. West for the years of instruction he provided for myself and teammates while at MCI. Many lessons, guidance, and words of wisdom I still take with me today and mirror. His philosophy of coaching that formed MCI basketball, I still utilize with the players I oversee today. I aspire to be as dedicated, and committed to the players i have now as you were to us at MCI.
Thank you Mr. West, be blessed.
He was a great player and a helpful teacher.always a gentleman when we met at varsity games.just a fine person and friend for 50 yrs.
