My godmother, Mrs. Barkauskas, was a wonderful person who always put family above anything else. She was quick-witted, had a very good memory, good humor, warm heart and devotion to Lucia, her daughter, and Dr. Barkauskas, her husband of many years. My father and Dr. Barkauskas were former classmates in Lithuania and shared many stories, jokes and of course drinks. Mrs. Barkauskas always cooked good Lithuanian food and shared stories with my mom when we visited her house. Lucia was already attending ballet classes and her beautiful photos graced the living room area. From her early dedication to ballet Lucia went on to New York City to attend a demanding international school of ballet, then later to a teaching career and as a mother of three children. Her achievement was fostered by the love and the moral support of her mom and dad. Her mom's legacy of love as well as her dad's is Lucia!
