In Celebration of

Daniel Richard Grossi

June 26, 1982 -  May 16, 2023

Daniel (Dan) was born in High Park in Toronto where his mum Joanna and his father Richard lived. Dan was the first grandchild for Joanna's parents and the 8th grandchild for Richard's parents. His love of family was formed through family dinners, summers on Lake Simcoe and visits to Clayton and Potsdam in New York. Dan grew up surrounded by family and this became foundational to the rest of his life.

Richard and Joanna added to their young family with the arrival of Dan's brother, Andrew. Andrew's arrival is a timestamp for the beginning of a brotherhood forged in love, mischief, and adventure. Jo and Rich played catch-up from day one. All through grade school, St. Michael's College School, and at St. Francis Xavier University, Dan's parents and family were witnesses, participants, and at times lifeguards in an epic filled with adventure, misadventure, all manner of peril, and a giant hero named Dan.

It was StFX where Dan met Michelle. Dan brought Michelle home to his huge extended family and with ease, the deal was done. Michelle (nee Lynch of Antigonish, NS) joined Dan's family with a wonderful wedding in her home town. We celebrated that wedding with camaraderie, mischief, and a lot of love. It was a fitting start to a marriage that has always put love and family first.

Dan and Michelle welcomed Abigail to their lives almost 7 1/2 years ago. Dan always looked at Abby with the love and devotion he brought to every family member. Michelle, Dan and Abby went on spectacular road trips, beautiful camping weekends, and Disney visits with unlimited energy and smiles. It is here the impact of his generosity with love can be most easily observed. Dan, Michelle, and Abby are the anchors to each family event they attend. Their consistency, their generosity of time and energy and their support through moves, crises, victories and celebrations is the stuff of legends.

If we measure a person by how they made others feel and the depth of sorrow and loss felt at their departure, we should call Dan a giant. Be well Danno. Be well.

Dan is predeceased by his mum, Joanna (nee Knill). Dan is survived by his father, Richard, his wife Michelle, his daughter Abigail, his brother Andrew, Andrew's partner Amy and his four legged companion, Rocky. Dan leaves a loving, heartbroken family of cousins, nephews, uncles, aunts and extended relatives as well.

Special thanks to the amazing staff at Trillium Hospital.

Michelle & Abby,

Nothing I can say will make this okay. But, know that you all are in my prayers. Dan was an amazing man on Earth and he will be an amazing man in Heaven.
