In Celebration of

Daniel James "DANO" Otrosina

December 4, 1962 -  October 29, 2022

Sadly, Daniel Otrosina’s journey of life came to a sudden end on Saturday, Oct 29th, 2022. At the young age of 59, Dan received his angel wings. His wife, and family, lovingly surrounded him as he passed peacefully.

Survived by his loving and devoted wife Rosa Comes and two stepdaughters, Amanda & Elisabeth.

His mother, Anne Otrosina and her late husband, William (Bill) Otrosina.

Sister Joyce Chrzan, brother-in-law Mike Chrzan, niece, Chrissy, and nephew, Mike.

At a young age, Dan was inspired by Stevie Ray Vaughan, which led him to a great love of music and endless nights of guitar playing. His passion for music led him to attend many concerts and festivals in all genres.

His love for music introduced us to Johnny Max, who hosted trivia every Wednesday at the Harp in Port Credit. Dan's love for trivia introduced us to many friends whom we have kept in touch with over the years. To friends that knew him - he always mentioned that his brain was filled with useless information. That information kept us coming for more fun and laughs.

Dan enjoyed watching classic Hollywood movies on Turner Classics. Many Sunday mornings were spent watching Natalie Wood, Alfred Hitchcock, Marilyn Monroe and the list can go on.

One of his favourite pass times was going to car races – may it be Formula 1, Le Mans or Indy - Dan enjoyed the need for speed. He was looking forward to seeing Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) achieve his eighth win.

Dan believed that you needed to enjoy life through experiences. His motto was an experience becomes a memory that you will carry in your heart forever.

His experiences took him and his family to Europe or a driving journey to Peele Island.

On this journey – he enjoyed a classic gin martini, great cuisine and a fine bottle of wine.

His famous words – when I die – I want to come back as a fine bottle of wine.

Dan will be incredibly missed by his wife, family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on November 26, 2022 between 12 - 5pm at the family home, 25 Tranquil Drive, Etobicoke.

At this time, the family requests that instead of sending flowers; donate to either the Heart and Stroke Foundation or CAMH in Dan’s honour.

In a lifetme some people get a rare opportunity to meet their soul mate. I meet mine 20 years ago. I met Dan on Lavalife. He questioned himself - he was not sure that I would be the right fit for him- very bubbly and extraverted. He was exactly my opposite - he kept me grounded and excited.

The first time I heard Dan's voice - he captured my heart. I was in love with this gentle, soft spoken soul. I melted and could not wait to meet him for the first time.

Our first date occurred on the third Saturday of the October weekend. If anyone knows me I do not score well on punctuality - always late to everything. I was an hour late to our date. The inside joke in my home is "Dan do you know how much money you could have saved if you left". To me - it showed me something different - this was a man that stayed because he believed he was meeting a keeper. In his mind, I was worth the wait and for that I will always love him.

Our date started at 11 am and ended on Sunday morning at 2am. He said to me prior to our date - you may not like me but I will promise you a good time. Our walking journey took us from the St Lawerence market to the Eaton Centre to Lawerence and Yonge. During this walking journey - I felt that this was someone I knew in a past life and we were catching up on old times. I was captured by him and every experience he offered after this date was just so mystical and enchanting.

Sadly, our first date came to an end. Dan leaned in and gave me a peck on the check. The good girl in me said stay tame but the bad girl wanted to take him home and never let him go.

He was a rare gem to me - in Italian - he is and always will be my Tesoro. When he met me on Lavalife - he asked why I called myself Roxybambola - and from that day his special nickname for me was Bambolina / Bambi.

I was blessed and thankful to have the opportunity to be with Dan for 20 years - we did so much in that time. Our journey is temporarily being inconvenienced but I know that when God sends my angel wings - I will be so excited to see him and hold him but till then he left me so many memories that I will cherish.

My heart is broken and I ache to see you but know that I love you forever - Bambi
