In Celebration of

Dr. Alvin James Anderson

October 13, 1928 -  January 22, 2021

Peacefully at Toronto Western Hospital on January 22, 2021, in his 93rd year. Predeceased by parents Frank and Evelyn. Survived by his loving wife Laurinda, and his three children Lea Michelle, Craig (Sarah), and David and grandson Evan. Brother of the late Frank, Lavern, and Brian, survived by brother Ross and his sister Shirley. Missed by his three step-daughters, Rosemary (Kevin), Christina (Terrence), Alexandrina (Joe), and step-grandchildren, Estefano, Evan, Aiden, and Rylea-Skye.

In 1952 Dr. Anderson graduated from the University of Western Ontario in Medicine. He began with an internship in Boston. He continued his lifelong passion with medicine in General Surgery, Cosmetic Surgery, and family medicine. He was loved by thousands of loyal patients- one who said “He was one of a kind; we shall not see his likes again”. Anyone who visited his office will remember listening to his favourite classical radio station. They would line up at 6:30 am, 6 days a week until his retirement in January 2015. He will be dearly missed by friends and patients all over the world.

Alvin was a Member of Harry L. Martin 696 GRC Masonic Lodge since 1964. An avid reader and lifelong learner of medicine he continually educated himself through literature.

Alvin led a full and very successful life.
He was in a class of his own.

“Service is our duty”, he often said. Perfection was his goal; “Self-criticism is a must if you wish to improve!” ~ A.J. Anderson

Due to Covid restrictions, a private visitation has been reserved for immediate family at Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel. Interment Kirkton Union Cemetery.
As per the family’s request donations in his memory may be made to Parkinson Canada.

Dearest Dr Anderson,
We are grateful and honoured that we have got a chance to work with you - a great, caring, detailed and dedicated surgeon.
Even after so many years, your previous patients were calling for you, expressing their happiness of the beautiful cosmetic works you've done for them.
Thank you for the good memories we've had with you.
May God bless your whole family.
You'll stay in our hearts; we love you, Dr Anderson.
Rest in Peace.
