In Celebration of

Clare Pirie

June 13, 1945 -  January 23, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce that Clare passed away peacefully on January 23, 2020 following a brief but serious illness.

Beloved wife of Jim, and dear mother of Melanie (Mike). Fondly remembered by sisters Jill Stone and Beryl (Gerhard) Gedies and brother Peter Stone. Also remembered with love by Jim’s mother, Betty, brothers John (Linda), David (Heather), Alan (Avril) and sister Anne (Don) Littler as well as many nieces and nephews in the UK and Canada.

Clare was born on June 13, 1945, and grew up in Glasgow, Scotland. In 1968, Clare and Jim set off on their lifetime adventure to Canada, beginning at Queen’s in Kingston then to Vancouver and eventually Toronto where she raised Melanie and Fraser while running the medical library at Peel Memorial Hospital in Brampton. Following her retirement, she loved to spend time at the cottage in the Kawarthas as well as doing a little travelling and gardening and some part-time shuttling cars for Avis around the GTA with her favourite crew of buddies.

Cremation has taken place. Friends may attend visitation at the Turner & Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas St. West, Etobicoke (between Islington and Kipling) on Friday January 31st from 6 pm to 8 pm. A memorial service will be held at Graceview Presbyterian Church, 588 Renforth Drive, (near Rathburn Road) Etobicoke on Saturday, February 1st at 11:00 am, followed by a reception.

Flowers gratefully declined, however donations, in Clare’s name, to Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation or your favourite cancer charity would be greatly appreciated to continue the research to help diagnosis and find cures for this multi-faceted and dreadful disease.
