With heavy hearts, we mourn our dearly loved mother, Charlotte Mary Rose Strongman, who passed away peacefully with family by her side at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on October 4th , 2024. She had recently celebrated her 80th Birthday and we are forever grateful to have called her “Mom.”
Born on May 31st , 1944 in Toronto as Charlotte Mary Rose Miandro, she lived most of her life there and then moved to Oakville later on in life. She was previously married to Paul Strongman and was loving mother of her three daughters, Stephanie (late husband, Ron Borg), Suzanne (Robert Snyder) and Kim (Jordan Fenn). Beloved Grandmother to Sydney & Cole Strongman-Borg, Connor & Kyle Grdosic, and Stewart, Duncan & Jacqueline Fenn. Charlotte will be fondly remembered and missed by her sister, Roberta, brother Ron and “adopted son” from Jamaica, Legel, as well as her other remaining dear family members and friends. All will forever hold her in their hearts…
Our mother attended Shaw Business College and worked as a Bookkeeper at the Bank of Nova Scotia in her early years. Later on, she went on to become President of the Junior League of Toronto while co-chairing many charity events that became so dear to her. Our mother also further experienced her love of books while working at “The Book Mark” in Etobicoke and served as Captain of St. George’s Golf & Country Club Ladies League.
Mom enjoyed spending time in Jamaica and Florida and loved boating on Georgian Bay, as well as golfing and cooking. She had a great love for dogs, gardening and flowers, music and dancing. And she always loved a good party!
Our mother was an intelligent, warm, engaging and loving woman who navigated the world with grace and style. Her love knew no bounds and her unwavering support was the foundation of our lives and our children’s. She dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her family, instilling in us the important core values of kindness, fairness, honesty, loyalty, empathy, compassion and resilience.
Mom was also a beautiful woman who had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel special and her warmth filled every room she entered. Her smile, laughter, and the countless moments we all shared with her will, no doubt, forever be cherished. Whether through her comforting words, thoughtful gestures or endearing sense of humour, she touched the lives of so many.
As her daughters, we were blessed to have a mother who nurtured us with unconditional love, guided us with gentle wisdom, and supported us in all that we pursued. She was our greatest cheerleader and our safe haven. She really was a pillar of courage and strength – just as her name embodies. Mom resolutely concealed her tears, but tirelessly shared her smiles… We will miss her dearly, though her spirit will continue to guide us for the rest of our lives and she’ll hold a special place in our hearts that no one else will ever fill.
While she is no longer with us, her love and legacy will live on through all of us. Mothers hold their children’s hands for a while, but their hearts forever…
Rest peacefully, Mom. We will eternally love you; you will always be our light.
