In Celebration of

Cecilia Helena Jones

May 26, 1930 -  July 24, 2022

Sadly passed away at Trillium Mississauga Hospital on Sunday, July 24, 2022, at the age of 92. Beloved wife of Charles for 67 years. Loving mother of Michael (Gail) and Christine (Stuart). Much loved grandmother of Matthew and Timothy. Predeceased by siblings Johnny, Stanley, Steven, Jean and Doris.

Cenia Goliat was born on a farm in Lisle, Ontario, north of Alliston. Her parents, Mary and John, had moved there from Toronto after emigrating from Poland. She began to be known as Cecilia after childhood. She was the youngest of six children and always spoke fondly of her years growing up on the farm with her niece, Elsie. She went to a small school and walked there with her best friend, Helen. She developed a love of nature, including animals, birds and flowers. She also developed an appreciation for food fresh from the farm and an enjoyment for cooking and baking.

When Cecilia left school, she moved to Toronto where she later met her husband, Charlie Jones. They married in 1955 and subsequently moved to Windermere Avenue near High Park. In 1978, they moved to a new home in Mississauga where they lived together for over 40 years. They had fruit trees and a large vegetable garden. Nothing from the garden went to waste: what wasn't eaten was made into things like tomato sauce and apple pies. Although Cecilia loved animals and birds, she wasn't happy when they ate the vegetables!

Cecilia worked at Canada Post for 32 years. She worked the evening shift while Charlie worked the day shift in maintenance at Nacan Products. She worked hard to give Michael and Christine the best life she could.

Cecilia and Charlie became even more attached to each other after they retired. For many years, they spent several weeks each fall on the Gulf coast of Florida near St. Petersburg.

Cecilia was a beautiful woman inside and out, full of love and kindness. She was the shining light of our family and was so loved by everyone who knew her. She always greeted people warmly when they called or visited and especially enjoyed spending time with family. We will always remember her gentle, caring voice and sweet, welcoming smile. She will be deeply missed by family and friends. Thank you to all who cared for her at Trillium.

Cecilia was my husbands favorite aunt. She was a person full of love and kindness. Birthdays or Christmases there always came a letter in the mail .She would phone and sing us happy Birthday. I know she will be missed by me and anybody who had the pleasure to get to know her.
