Carol Stretton passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025 in her 91st year, surrounded by her loving family.
Carol’s life was rooted in family. After the tragic passing of her first husband Dan Gaynor at a young age, Carol found herself raising their four children on her own. With courage and determination, she provided a nurturing and stable home, becoming both the rock and guiding light of her family. Her children often speak of her selflessness and the sacrifices she made to ensure they never went without.
Carol dedicated many years of her life to the City of Mississauga, where she had a long and successful career as a crossing guard supervisor. She took great pride in her work and earned the respect of colleagues and families alike.
Carol was blessed with a second chance at love with her late husband Allen Stretton. She remarried and embraced this new chapter of life with an open heart. Their years together were filled with love, joy, and happiness with both of their families.
Carol will be forever cherished by her four children, Dan Gaynor (Sarah), Jill Gaynor, Scott Gaynor (Ally) and Jeff Gaynor (Andrea), her 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now at peace, reunited with loved ones and in the presence of the Lord.
Carol will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her strength, kindness, and gentle spirit will live on in the many lives she touched.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 21, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and again from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Turner & Porter – Neweduk Chapel, 1981 Dundas Street West, Mississauga.
A funeral service to celebrate Carol’s life will take place on Thursday, May 22 at 11:00 a.m. at Streetsville United Church, 274 Queen Street South, Mississauga.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Carol’s memory to the Canadian Cancer society.
