Passed away peacefully at Wellbrook Place on Friday April 4th, 2025 at the age of 88. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 66 years Alice; and their three children Michele(Gary), Mark and Todd(Renata). Cal was the proud grandfather to Brandon, Justin, Cayden, Shianne and Hailee, and he will be lovingly remembered by them. He will also be missed by his two sisters Beverly(Ross) and Verlie(John) and his sisters-in-law Margaret, Betty, Mary and his many nieces and nephews.
Calvin was born in Rosetown Saskatchewan. Upon the return of his father after WWII, the family moved to Winnipeg where Cal resided until his attendance at Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario. It was during this time that Cal met his wife Alice and he began his career in the door and moulding business. Cal was passionate about work and retired from his position as Vice-President of the Canadian Division at Masonite International at the age of 70. Outside of work, Dad was the outdoorsy type who would take time to teach his children and grandchildren about the natural world around them. He enjoyed many years at the family cottage fishing, boating and entertaining his family and friends. Cal’s other hobbies included his yearly goose hunting trips to Winnipeg and he enjoyed playing poker with the same club for over 50 years.
A special thank you to all the staff at Wellbrook Place Long Term Care in Mississauga where Cal resided. The loving care and compassion always shown to Cal was a great comfort to our family.
Cal will be remembered for his big personality, his love of animals, nature and of course, his family.
In memory of Calvin, donations may be made to the Canadian Alzheimer’s Society or the Mississauga Humane Society.
