It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bruce Davey Sproule on Tuesday, November 25th, 2024, at the age of 96. Predeceased by his wife of 66 years Fay Alice Yvonne. Loving father of Mark Sproule (Myrtle) of Calgary, Wendy Stack (Tim) of Oakville, and Kimberley of Mississauga. Grandfather to Rory, Shannon (Andrew), Jacqueline (Arthur), Laura, Connor (Sierra), Maeve, and Helen (James). Great grandad to Lyla and Cole. Predeceased by brother Robert and Gwen Sproule, sister Madelon and Don MacLeod, and sister-in-law Viki Prystawski (Walter).

Born in Toronto, he attended Parkdale Collegiate and later worked as a teacher in a one-room schoolhouse near Orangeville. Bruce then spent the next 35+ years as an executive in human resources and labour relations with Ontario Hydro where he made numerous life-long friends.

Bruce was an excellent athlete playing and coaching basketball and badminton. He was an ardent supporter of the arts, a talented piano player, and an avid reader. A storyteller, you could find Bruce at every family gathering tucked in a corner sharing a compelling story or two. He was a passionate black and white photographer, genealogist, stamp collector, and history aficionado. An extensive world traveler some of his favourite places being Ireland, Scotland, Spain, Thailand, and Canada.

Lifetime achievements include receiving the prestigious Arbor Award for service to UofT, President of the Associates of Erindale College, board committee member of Canadian Mental Health Association for 25 years, Board of Stewards at Erindale United Church, and with Fay by his side building his family home from the ground up.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Neweduk-Erin Mills Chapel, 1981 Dundas Street West, Mississauga, on Monday, December 2nd, 2024. Visitation will be held from 10 AM-11 AM. Service and reception to follow immediately.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Mississauga Symphony Orchestra.
