In Celebration of

Bruce Edward Mottershead

February 21, 1949 -  September 13, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Bruce Edward Mottershead at his home in Mississauga, on September 13, in his 74th year. He was a loving husband to Betty and pre-deceased by Cheryl (Gilmore 1948-2012). Bruce was a devoted father to Carie, Jason (Carolyn), Megan, Margo; and will be missed by Betty’s children Tish (Joe) and Mark (Avin). He was a cherished and proud Pops to Travis, Owen, Abby, Justin, Josh and Kai. Bruce will be dearly missed by siblings Joyce Munro (Don), Glenn Mottershead (Joanne), Janis Young (Frank), Dennis Gilmore (Pam) and his many nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his parents, Audrey (Crozier) and Harry Mottershead; in-laws, Eileen (Vittie) and James Gilmore; and brother-in-law, Wayne Gilmore (Gail).
He graduated with a Masters Degree in Engineering from the University of Waterloo in 1974. Bruce had a distinguished career as a professional with Bell Northern Telecom, Ernst & Young and provided senior consulting to a wide range of clients.
Bruce enjoyed photography, travel and family gatherings. He was our “MacGyver” in the field of electronics, always eager to be helpful with his technical know-how and experience. Bruce was an active member of Eden United Church and Probus Cooksville. He was a true gentleman and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and working with him.
The family would like to express their most sincere gratitude to the health care workers who were dedicated to Bruce’s care over the past several years.
Visitation will be at 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm on Friday, September 23 at Turner and Porter, Neweduk Chapel, 1981 Dundas Street West, Mississauga, ON L5K 1R2.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Bruce’s life on Saturday, September 24 at Eden United Church, 3051 Battleford Drive, Mississauga ON. One hour visitation will precede the 11:00am service. If you are unable to attend and would like to receive a link to live-stream the service, please email jasonmottershead1@gmail.com.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society.

I knew Bruce for a number of years as a CTCA member. It's been a few years since we spoke. Condolences to the family. I'll remember Bruce as generous and thoughtful. One of the guys. I'm out of town for an not able to attend the funeral.
