BORCSOK, Paul Joseph died peacefully, on Sunday, December 19th, 2021, at the age of 94, at the Trillium Health Centre - Mississauga. Beloved husband of Gizi for 66 years. Loving mother of Paul (Mary), John (Cynthia), Joseph (Sheilagh), Michael (Caroline), Stephen, Julia (deceased) and Anthony (deceased). Adored grandfather of Laura (Jason), Stephanie, Kristina (Conner), David (Christina), Peter (Denis), Leanne, Paul (Cheryl), Julia (Lucas), Mark, Alexandra (Stephen), Thomas and Victoria and great-grandchildren Charlotte, Penelope, Theodore, Callum and Milo.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Peel Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (Hwy. 10, N. of QEW), on Wednesday from 2-7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church, 2300 Burnhamthorpe Rd. W., Mississauga, on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. Interment at Assumption Cemetery (6933 Tomken Road, Mississauga).

Paul continued the family tradition of fruit and vegetable farming, initially at the original homestead in Dixie (now Mississauga) and later in Burlington where he started a 100 acre u-pick apples and pears operation under the name Applevale Orchards. He maintained an active involvement through to the end and often provided the wisdom of his many years’ experience. On sunny days we would see Paul overhead flying his Piper Cherokee 140 which was his passion for many years. He was a sustaining member of Brampton Flying Club and an active honorary member of Rapcan (Retired Air Canada Pilots Association) - being the only non-active airline pilot that was ever allowed into this organization. That tells you much about Paul’s personality.

In his early years, after graduating from St Michael’s High School in Toronto, Paul liked to show off his pugilistic skills becoming a high ranked professional boxer under the pseudonym Paul Bauer. Later in life, now bringing up his five boys, he turned his interests to coaching hockey and lacrosse. Paul received an abundance of vicarious pleasure as an adamant hockey parent sharing the associated duties with his equally enthusiastic wife, Gizi. It was hard to imagine how they managed to get to most games and practices, and still loving every minute of it.

Other than his love of flying, nothing excited Paul more than thoroughbred racing where he enjoyed the summer and autumn racing sessions spent in the “Glass Room” at Woodbine. That’s what he called it.

Paul was an active member of the community and a Mississauga Rotary member for over 50 years.

Paul loved his family and looked forward to the annual celebrations of any sort with his adoring with of 60 years, Gizi.

And may we end with one of Paul’s famous lines and his phone message for many years and which none of us really understood – “That’s Nice”.
