In Celebration of

Blair Baxter

April 2, 1957 -  November 19, 2021

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the sudden passing of Blair Baxter on November 19, 2021.

Blair was a kind, funny, caring person who was loved and respected by many. In his professional life Blair found it rewarding to help guide companies toward their financial goals. Away from the office, he was devoted to his family, his friends and to living life fully. He had a special place in his heart for Kahlua and Jack Daniels, the dogs he and Joanne shared. They were not only his treasured companions but SJA therapy dogs as well. Trust Blair and Joanne to want to share with others the special gifts Kahlua and JD offer freely to people in need. Blair is survived by his wife, Joanne Van der Burgt and daughter Jessica, his mother Eileen, sister Cynthia and her husband Kevin, brother Gordon and his partner Gloria. He was predeceased by his father Ronald. He will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces & nephews, the entire Baxter and Van der Burgt family plus a host of loving friends.

The family will receive visitors at Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel at 2357 Bloor St W on Friday, November 26 from 4 – 7 pm. Due to COVID restrictions, you must provide proof of vaccination and photo ID.

The family welcomes your stories and memories of Blair in writing. They will be collected at the visitation or you may post on this website to be shared with family. Blair had a passion for learning, travel, great food and exceptional wine with a memorable cigar. He would challenge all of us to live our lives heartily, every day. Think of him the next time you are taking in a beautiful view or enjoying a memorable meal.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations in his memory to the Alzheimer Society of Ontario. https://alzheimer.ca/on/en

Blair had an amazing way of connecting and impacting so many of our lives. We are limited as to how many people can join us at the service on Saturday so we’ve organized a YouTube livestream that can be accessed with the link below at 11 am (EST). Thank you so much for the amazing memories you’ve shared with us and your incredible support!

Blair was a wonderful friend, funny, caring and loving. Jessica and Joanne were the loves of his life and he treated them beautifully. Blair was an example of what a fine human being can be and he lived his life with joy and gusto. We will miss him greatly.

I always had the utmost respect for Blair and he has significantly helped me and my team through the evolution of my career in the last couple of years. He had an incredible work ethic and since he has left CoreLogic, there's been a big hole in regards to the role he used to have. I know I speak for many people on my team and in the Montreal office when I say that Blair will be greatly missed as well as his sense of humor and that he really positively affected the work and career of many as well as the future and outcome of Symbility.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Blair certainly had a passion for numbers and keeping everything on track for financial success. He also shared his humor in between all that work. May you keep the great memories in mind, though he is no longer with you in the present.

You write that "Blair was a kind, funny, caring person." That is exactly what I would have written. I am fortunate that I had the opportunity to experience work and leisure with Blair. I am sadden by the news of his passing but happy to have known him.
