In Celebration of

Bill "P.I.A." Porritt

July 25, 1938 -  October 14, 2024

Bill was married for over 62 years to his beloved wife and soulmate Bonnie (nee Lyness). He was the beloved father of Ric (Helen), Steve (Heather), and Dave (Sue); loving grandfather of Keira, Yasmine, Anna (John), and Sarah (Alex); and loving great-grandfather of Ember, Ezra, Boaz, and Silas.

Known and appreciated for his skills as a master mechanic and fondness for the sport of hockey, Bill forged many relationships and bonded with others over these two passions throughout his lifetime. He goaltended on the Etobicoke Oldtimers hockey team for over 20 years. During this time, he also trained goalies in the Faustina All-Star Club and for the Junior B hockey team - the Dixie Beehives; whose teammates included Brendan Shanahan and Randy Cunneyworth.

After ‘hanging up the pads’, Bill continued to coach, which included helping with grade school hockey. He then found his true passion when he began coaching adult women’s hockey for the Rock Solid and Kit Kat teams.
Bill also had the opportunity in recent years to foster friendships with fellow retirees in his community who met regularly on the ‘outdoor benches’ or ‘indoor couches’.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter “Neweduk-Erin Mills” Chapel, 1981 Dundas St. W., (east of Erin Mills Pkwy) Mississauga, on Sunday October 20, 2024, from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.

A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Monday, October 21, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.

For those who wish, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation in memory of Bill. Online condolences may be made through www.turnerporter.ca
