In Celebration of

Bernice Jones

July 6, 1930 - December 3, 2022

Our dear Mom, Bernice Jones, passed away on December 3rd, 2022 at the age of 92.

Mom was born on July 6th, 1930 to Edith and Gordon Caldwell in Kerns Township, Ontario. She was the only daughter amongst her 4 brothers – Lorne, Aubrey, Alvin, and Charlie.

Mom was blessed with 2 great loves of her life. She was married to our Dad Vince Jones for 54 years, with the majority of their time spent in North Bay until his passing in 2005. A few years later, a life-long friendship with Smitty (Robert Smith) developed into a wonderful partnership in Markham until his passing in 2019.

We had a magical childhood. Mom was a special Mother to Linda Pritchard (Stuart) of Mississauga, Dianne Alderman (Ralph) of Placitas NM, Vance of Sudbury, and Jeff (Sheila) of Callander. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Michael and Stephen Pritchard, Lindsay (Cory) Czaikowski and Taylor Jones. Mom had just become a Great Grandmother with the newest addition of Peyton Czaikowski.

Mom was a fun and vivacious lady. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and big blue eyes. She loved singing and was an accomplished whistler. In her younger days, she loved golf and swimming, but Mom’s true passion was getting together with family and playing cards and euchre well into the night.

While dementia slowly took our Mom over the last few years, she never lost her kind, beautiful soul and she was loved by all.

Deepest thanks and gratitude to all of the wonderful staff of Erin Meadows Retirement Home who held a special place for Mom and always treated her with love, kindness, and respect. While there are too many to name, Imelda was a constant source of reassurance, good humour, and comfort, while Kristina made sure that Mom looked her best and never lost her style even to her last days.

A private family Celebration of Life will be held. We will truly celebrate and love our Mom forever.
