In Celebration of

Bela Kutasi

August 30, 1937 -  April 30, 2024

The Kutasi family announce the passing of Bela, in Mississauga. Beloved husband of 57 years to Eileen. Loving father of Deirdre, Margaret Pratt (Lawrence) and Paul (Laura). Dear nagypapa to Elliot and Lewin. Lovingly remembered by his brother Paul.

Bela was a man of few words but deeply devoted to his family, friends, and loved ones. In 1956, Bela fled Hungary during the Hungarian Revolution and settled in a refugee camp in Austria before moving to the Netherlands briefly. In 1957, he decided to make Canada his home. Despite arriving with limited funds and no English, Bela worked various jobs within the railway and construction sectors across Canada, particularly in Regina, before settling in Toronto. Bela worked hard and became a skilled construction worker, and in his spare time, he enjoyed playing pool, fishing, and enjoying time with friends.

In 1966, Bela had a chance encounter with Eileen, establishing an inseparable bond of love lasting 57 years. Bela and Eileen married in 1967, started a loving family, and eventually settled in Mississauga. Bela found his greatest joy in bringing his children to dance and sports, spending time with Eileen and their friends, being a doting nagypapa to his grandchildren, and caring for his beloved dogs and garden, especially his prized tomatoes. Bela also loved travelling with his family, especially Eileen, and they visited many countries together, seeing the world's wonders.

A visitation will be held at the Turner & Porter Neweduk - Erin Mills Chapel, 1981 Dundas St. W. (E. of Erin Mills Pkwy.) on Sunday from 2-5 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Streetsville, 5440 Durie Rd., Mississauga, on Monday, May 6, 2024 at, 12 noon. Interment in the Churchyard Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Bela’s memory to The Alzheimer Society of Peel.

Unfortunately I won't be able to attend the visitation this afternoon, but I wanted to extend my sincere condolences to all of you. I have many fond memories of my time living next door to you. I will always remember how kind Mr. Kutasi was, and I loved hearing the sound of Mrs. Kutasi singing when I was outside in our backyard. I am so sorry for your loss Mrs Kutasi, Deirdre, Margaret and Paul.

I was sorry to hear the news of Mr. Kutasi's passing and wanted to at least send a message along. I remember that he was quiet but always friendly. We were fortunate to have lovely neighbours. I have a vague memory (I was very young) of him making me a flute out of a local plant, and I remember thinking how neat that was! Please know that I am thinking of you all - Mrs. Kutasi, Deidre, Margaret, and Paul, and hoping that you all take care.
