In Celebration of

Barry Douglas McLeod

May 15, 1944 -  March 27, 2025

It is with great sadness that we share the death of Barry on Thursday March 27, 2025, surrounded by his family, at Credit Valley Hospital.

Barry is survived by his beloved wife Zemira (Sam). He will be missed by his 4 children, Tim (Melisa), Sue (Joe), Claudette (Chris) and Jeff (Siri). He will also be fondly remembered by his 10 grandchildren: Madison, Mia, William, Hannah, Justin, Niko, Maia, Artemis, Nyah and Sarena. He will also be remembered by his extended McLeod and Fernandes families.

Barry was born and raised in Keady, Ontario where he and his brother Bruce (pre-deceased 2022) spent their childhood on the family farm. From there he started his career at TD Bank, working in various positions and after a successful 38-year career retired as Vice President & Regional Manager.

Barry and Sam loved to travel having visited 125 countries across 6 continents. Together they enjoyed exploring new places, trying new adventures and tasting different cuisines. They also loved to spend time at their family cottage in Sauble Beach and winter home in Florida. In their spare time they enjoyed playing tennis, golf, poker, board games and gardening.

Barry will be remembered by so many things during his life, but most notably by his hearty laugh which was contagious to all those around. In his later years Barry was diagnosed with dementia but continued to maintain his positive outlook on life.

Many thanks to the team at Silverthorn Care Community for their exceptional care over the last two years and to the staff at Credit Valley Hospital.

We are grateful for the long life Barry lived, his dedication to his family and to the precious memories he left behind.

Friends may join at the Turner & Porter "Neweduk-Erin-Mills" Chapel, 1981 Dundas St. W., Mississauga, on Friday April 4, 2025 from 2 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life Service in the Chapel at 3 p.m.

If desired, donations to the Alzheimer's Society or Heart and Stroke foundation would be appreciated by the family.

Barry and I became friends in high school and remained friends all through our lives. He was a terrific gentleman and loved to laugh with me. Sincere condolences to his wife, Sam and children who grew up experiencing farm life with me . I sure loved enjoying time with him and often think of our time spent in high school even getting into trouble with teachers. RIP my friend.
