In Celebration of

Barbara Wizinski (nee Heretyk)

October 31, 1940 -  August 16, 2023

Passed away suddenly on August 16 2023 at St Joseph’s Health Centre, Toronto at the age of 82. She was a classically trained concert pianist, music teacher and professional conductor of secondary school bands, in the Toronto area.

A deeply spiritual woman with a highly developed sense of intuition, she always spoke her truth and fiercely stood by her beliefs and strong values. A creative perfectionist with a flair for the dramatic, she was a fabulous cook and brilliant conversationalist. As a colourful, entertaining character, she made the world more alive with feeling.

Barbara had many diverse interests, she enjoyed a passion for fashion, real estate and interior decorating throughout her life. She travelled frequently throughout Europe and the Caribbean and enjoyed conversing on subjects such as politics, history and world issues.

Barbara was a loving wife to the late Micheal Wizinski, and later in life, cherished companion to the recently deceased Roger Young. Beloved mother of Tamara and Monica and adored Babcia of Elsa and Monty Tsokanos. Dear sister to the late Janina Michalczyk and the late Stanislaw Heretyk in Poland; sister-in-law of the late Anne (Stan) Kondrotas and the late Mary Kist in Toronto. Remembered by her nieces and nephews Marion Kist, Donna and Stan Kondrotas, Bogna Crenson, Witek Kawula in Canada and Jolanta Niedopytalska, Beata Borowska and Marcin Heretyk in Poland. She will be sadly missed by all.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., at Windermere, east of the Jane Subway, on Tuesday, August 22nd from 6-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will take place in the Chapel on Wednesday, August 23rd at 11 a.m. with Interment to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to the St. Joseph’s Health Care Foundation.

Barb was a good friend, with lots to say all the time. She loved talking about her home renovations. She was looking forward to meeting me for lunch and having a nice chat at Sherway Gardens on Aug. 17 but God had another plan. I will miss her presence and lively conversations. May She rest in peace.
With lots of love,
Maria Masson

Barbara,
It is with great great sorrow to see your life come to pass. The memory of you, such a vibrant soul with a great curiosity and drive to live will never ever be forgotten. You were very inspirational for anybody who needed a guide on aging. You did it very gracefully and took it all in stride. You were always in touch with reality and your stark observations and colorful humor were very much appreciated. You were also a very good person who cared. That is why you were so demanding of everybody around you. I am truly sorry that I did not get a chance to speak with you or Roger in the past months. I will miss you forever and will think about you upon my own death for everything that I have learned from you while living. Love Steven.
