In Celebration of

Audrey Grant

July 12, 1932 -  May 8, 2024

Our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Audrey Grant, peacefully passed away on the evening of May 8, 2024. Audrey was 91 years old and was the heart and soul of our family and home. She guided our family with kindness and the perseverance it required.

Audrey was born on July 12, 1932 in Montreal, Quebec. She grew up in Verdun, where she met, and married the love of her life Archie, they were married for 47 years before Dad's passing in 2003. Together they were inseparable.

She raised three children Diane (Nader), Doug (Lori), Rob (predeceased 2018) (survived by Sandra), in a happy and loving home, teaching all how to be independent and thoughtful adults. She was adored by her eight grandchildren: Sarah (Chad), Taylor, Samantha, Matthew (Jen), Adam, Jennifer (Dean), Victoria (Jordan), and Stephanie; providing them an environment of constant encouragement and loving advice. She was so proud of all her grandchildren and never worried about telling everyone about how wonderful they were and boasting about their accomplishments. She was their greatest cheerleader and biggest fan. Audrey also had four great grandchildren: Avery, Brinley, Jaxson, and Penelope; all seen as angels bestowed to the family. Audrey also had a number of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews, in Eastern Ontario and abroad in England and New Zealand.

For those that knew Mum, she was truly compassionate, a friend to those in need, an ear to listen and a shoulder to cry on. Her hand was always out to see how she could help, but not anyone’s pushover.

Mum, you will be dearly missed by all, but it is now time for you to reunite with Dad. Go in peace Mum and know that we’ll all be “Okay”.

Friends will be received at the Turner & Porter Peel Chapel, 2180 Hurontario Street, (Hwy 10 N. of the QEW), Mississauga, Ontario, on Monday, May 13, 2024 from 1:30pm to 3:00pm, until the time of a Funeral Service in the Chapel at 3pm. Reception to follow.

To the Grant Family,
From the day we met Audrey, we knew she was going to be a special friend. Soon after we met, we discovered that we all lived just a few streets apart while growing up in Verdun, Quebec. We could talk about anything together and shared many laughs. She was a true friend, one who I am grateful to have been part of my life. We send our deepest sympathies to the family and may she rest in peace.

Audrey was such a lovely woman. She was a very good friend to my mother, Dorothy Dunbar, for many years while living at Amica. Dorothy left us almost 7 years ago. Audrey and Mary, another friend of theirs, sat with my mom every night while she was going through Chemo . Some of the funny things Audrey told us that the three of them did where priceless. My daughter Ashley and l continued to see Audrey over the last 7 years and we will truly miss her. We did get to see her in March when Ashley was home from Stockholm.
Our condolences to you and your family. It truly was an honor to know such a classy and lovely lady. Audrey will dearly missed.

Sending my deepest sympathies to all of Audrey's family and friends.

I met Audrey through my grandmother, Dorothy Dunbar. They were neighbours at Amica and they became good friends over the years – it was fun to see that you could make new, good friends no matter your age. It was always good to visit my grandmother, Audrey and all their lady friends for coffee whenever I returned home.

After my grandma passed, Audrey and I stayed in touch over email, Christmas cards and coffee visits when I was in town. I can only hope that I'm also using email, watching Netflix and keeping up with the technologies later in life. I loved Audrey's attitude towards life and perspective on things. I really enjoyed keeping in touch and we talked about how Dorothy would have been very happy with our friendship. She felt like a grandmother figure in absentia of Dorothy.

Again, my deepest condolences. Thinking of all of Audrey's family and friends at this difficult time. She was a wonderful lady and I'm grateful to have known her.

My deepest sympathies to Audrey's family.

As a volunteer at Amica, I had the good fortune of meeting Audrey. I would see Audrey while she was playing Euchure on Friday afternoons. A friendship quickly developed as we shared a common love for curling up with a good book. I marveled at the beautiful little library Audrey managed at Amica, it was so well organized and maintained housing a great selection of books for all of the residents to enjoy. I offered support to Audrey when the library needed a little clean up, and that was when I really got to know Audrey. She was such a kind, caring, well read, smart woman who I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with.
I will miss her dearly, and will be forever thankful to have befriended her.

To her family, may fond memories warm your heart during this difficult time.
