Audrey passed away quietly, in her sleep at 101 years of age, on Thursday morning, January 6. She was being lovingly cared for in her final hours by her daughter Elaine and grandchildren John and Adele.
She is remembered with extreme fondness as a gracious, giving mother to her daughter Elaine Martinson (Andrew), as a grandmother to John Lane (Cathy), Adele Lane (Fraser Hancock), Lisa Martinson (John Crunkleton) and Julie Martinson (Dustin Miller), as a great-grandmother to Brennan Lane, Eric Lane, Alexandra Lane, Grant Hancock, Julie Hancock, Lindsey Welsh and Audrey Crunkleton, and as a great-great-grandmother to Isabel Lane and Carlisle Welsh. Loved deeply as well by many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends and by pretty much anyone who ever met her.
Audrey was predeceased by her husband James (1979), daughter Beverley (1992), grandson Jimmy, sister Bernice and aunt and best friend Norma Ashworth.
She was a highly accomplished, award-winning artist, and after her husband Jim’s death, a teacher of portraiture and ESL. Her paintings are scattered across the country. As well, Audrey became a world traveler joining members of the family in trips abroad and throughout North America.
She is remembered fondly by cousin and close friend Lois Omelia and long-time dedicated family member Charlie Lane.
The family offers its deepest thanks to the caring staff of Wesburn Manor for making Audrey’s final years comfortable and fulfilling.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Audrey’s life will take place in the spring. Donations on her behalf may be made to https://getbettergifts.sickkidsfoundation.com for art therapy for children, or to a charity of your choice.
