In Celebration of

Anthony Quintin D'Souza

July 24, 1935 -  May 27, 2025

It is with profound and deep sadness to announce that Anthony Quintin D’Souza passed away on May 27th, 2025 at the Mississauga Hospital. Born on July 24th, 1935, in Nairobi, Kenya, he was just weeks shy of celebrating his 90th birthday. Quintin was the eldest of seven siblings, and predeceased to his loving parents, Custodio and Lucilia Anna Clara D’Souza.

Quintin was a loving husband to Philomena for over 56 years and a devoted father to Orlena (Craig Ebata) and Llewellyn. He was a cherished brother to Lucy (Francis Fernandes), Rosie (the late Rufino Soares), Angie (the late Assisi Fernandes), Francis (Leila Nazer), Marie (the late Robert D’Costa) and predeceased by his younger brother Johno. He was a proud uncle to many nieces and nephews, cherished by his in-laws and cousins. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Quintin built his career working for Kenya Railways, a role that reflected his dedication and strong work ethic. Life led him on a new journey when he immigrated to Canada with his family in January 1977, and has called Mississauga, ON his home. As a loyal and hard-working man, he was a valued and a recognized member of the Canadian Tire community for 35 years.

Quintin had many passionate hobbies; his love for soccer, his love for cars, his love for always repairing something, his love for his vegetable garden and his love for birds. Soccer was one of Quintin’s great passions. He played for a local league “Nairobi Heroes”, and even after his playing days, he never lost his love for the game, enjoying every moment of watching matches on TV.

He had a natural knack for repairing cars, a great handy man around the house and he enjoyed repairing lawn mowers and snow blowers for family, friends and neighbours. He enjoyed travelling across Canada (from the west coast to the east coast) and around the world, and he always looked forward to visiting family in Goa, India.

He found great joy in tending to his garden, where he lovingly grew juicy tomatoes, crisp cucumbers, and a variety of chili's. It was a place of peace and pride, reflecting his care and dedication.

His appreciation for nature shone through his love for birds, especially his cherished African Grey Parrot, Kazukoo. He loved, nurtured and babysat so many other parrots throughout his lifetime.

One thing he never missed, was playing his weekly lottery tickets in hopes of winning the big jackpot one day.
Dad, we checked your last tickets and you have some winning tickets.

Quintin will always be remembered for being a man with very few words, for his fun-loving humor and for his genuinely pure soul.

We love you, rest in eternal peace Quintin. You will always be remembered.
